For centuries, Native Americans used crushed cranberries for a variety of uses. Today, controlled studies suggest organic acids from cranberry juice help promote, support & maintain a Healthy Bladder & Urinary Tract. These organic acids disrupt the glue bacteria use to adhere to tissue, making it harder for them to get established on the lining of the bladder which leads to infection. It appears that two components of cranberry inhibit bacterial adhesion - fructose and proanthocyanidins. The Journal of the American Dental Association published a study in the December 1998 issue by Israeli scientists that did indeed discover something in cranberry juice that prevented bacteria in the mouth from forming dental plaque, which leads to both tooth decay and gum disease. The vitamin C in CranC-Plex augments the natural antioxidant power of these proanthocyanidins. Side Effect No adverse effects have been reported Warning : Keep out of reach of childrenScientific Evidence One double-blind study followed 153 women with an average age of 78.5 years for a period of 6 months.1 Many women of this age group have what are called chronic assymptomatic bladder infections: signs of bacteria in the urine without any symptoms. Half of the participants were given a standard commercial cranberry cocktail drink, the other a placebo drink prepared to look and taste the same. the results showed a 58% decrease in the incidence of bacteria and white blood cells in the urine. A year-long open trial of 150 women found that regular use of cranberry juice reduced the rate of urinary tract infection as compared to a probiotic drink or no treatment.2 The Journal of the American Dental Association published a study in the December 1998 issue by Israeli scientists that did indeed discover something in cranberry juice that prevented bacteria in the mouth from forming dental plaque, which leads to both tooth decay and gum disease.
